The Organics Sky Garden @ Aleph Rome Hotel

Want to enjoy a view with your drink? It is time to soak up those summer sunsets at The Organics Sky Garden

There is a new energy moving across Rome’s rooftops. On the top floor of the 5-starred Aleph Rome Hotel (a member of the Hilton Curio Collection), just a few minutes from Rome’s Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, the Organics Sky Garden has relaunched with a new format dedicated to food, mixology, music and contemporary socialising. A season-long project that interprets the latest international lifestyle trends while telling the story of Rome through immersive, elegant and authentic experiences.

Aleph Rome Hotel - ORGANICS SkyGarden 2

More than a simple calendar of events, the new format wants to be a different way of approaching free time and urban sociability: a more balanced, sophisticated and contemporary rhythm, with refined but never intrusive music, relaxed atmospheres and timings designed to enjoy the evening with ease, in line with the latest international trends in entertainment lifestyle. The terrace itself becomes a sort of urban jungle suspended above the city, where the panorama meets carefully chosen sounds, conviviality and a strongly distinctive identity.

A menu inspired by Rome’s seven hills

At the heart of the experience is a genuine tribute to the Eternal City. The new food menu offers a selection of bites and sharing dishes inspired by Rome’s hills: convivial small plates designed to accompany aperitivo and informal dinner with a contemporary, cosmopolitan spirit. The Palatino is told through a beef tartare with mustard and capers and a focaccia with Bassiano ham and Circe burrata; the Campidoglio becomes a small cacio e pepe pasta frittata or a pan brioche with fennel-seasoned porchetta and smoked provola foam, and so on through the menu, each dish reinterpreting a different corner of the city.

Cocktails that tell the story of Rome’s rioni

The mixology is conceived as a journey through Rome’s historic rioni, with a signature drink list built as a sensory narrative of the city. The menu itself is part of the experience: an original collectible cube, designed as an iconic object to keep and enjoy, turning the drink list into a piece of design and storytelling.

Each cocktail interprets a neighbourhood, its atmosphere, symbols and personality. Rione Parione is fresh and Mediterranean, built on Gin Mare, a tomato and basil cordial, dry vermouth and Organics Tonic Water. Rione Trastevere is spicy and fruity at once, made with Diplomatico Riserva rum, a pineapple and cinnamon cordial and Organics Ginger Beer. Rione Campo Marzio is tropical with smoky notes, combining Tequila Herradura, Ancho Reyes Verde, lime, orgeat, smoked salt and Organics Bitter Lemon.

Alongside the signature selection, The Organics Sky Garden also offers a classic cocktail list and a beverage proposal made with 100% natural ingredients, in keeping with the fresh, sophisticated identity of the terrace.

Sunset Panorama and Liquid Sessions

The musical direction is curated by Glauco Di Mambro, DJ, producer and music curator, who brings his cutting-edge vision to the terrace.

Among the most anticipated appointments is “Sunset Panorama,” the Friday format starting at 6.30 pm, aimed at global travellers and an international crowd looking for a relaxed, vibrant take on contemporary luxury. Soft, sophisticated electronic sounds accompany the Roman sunset with a musical selection that reflects the city’s cosmopolitan spirit, striking a balance between elegance, energy and panorama.

Every Wednesday, Liquid Sessions takes over: refined, deep vibes that explore new sonic territory, blending eclecticism and electronic innovation into a listening-focused evening that builds slowly, unhurried, developing its tones in sync with the sunset.

With this new format, The Organics Sky Garden confirms its role as an iconic destination on Rome’s hospitality scene, a place in constant motion, where music, taste and lifestyle merge into a new urban experience to be lived above the city.

Reaching The Organics Sky Garden couldn’t be easier. The hotel enjoys an enviable location, steps away from Piazza Barberini and Via Vittorio Veneto, the Borghese Gallery and the main shopping routes — and the sophisticated entrance hall, in the former headquarters of Italy’s central bank, with its grey marble floors and ceilings, is well worth a visit on the way up to the rooftop.

Gelateria Cremilla

Discover Italian excellence one scoop at a time

Every bite becomes a real journey through Italy and the world, thanks to various gelato flavours and regional pastries. Cremilla tells us a story of local farmers and food artisans committed to creating a product where taste and quality meet naturally.

Strategically located almost halfway between Castel Sant Angelo and San Peter’s Basilica, just a few meters away from Borgo Pio, this ice cream parlour is the perfect spot for enjoying truly authentic ice cream without falling into a “tourist trap”.

You won’t need to get lost in the city’s narrow and cobbled streets to find real Italian products: Cremilla gives you a chance to taste a deliciously creamy and fresh ice cream while you are walking in the lively area around Castel Sant Angelo, visiting the city’s main hotspots.

The ice cream shop was opened in 2018 and it managed to thrive through the pandemic, constantly adapting to the costumer’s needs. Besides a great selection of ice cream, Cremilla offers fresh seasonal juices, crepes – either plain or chocolate, flavoured waffles, pancakes, smoothies, milkshakes and organic yoghurt.

At Cremilla, you can find the traditional Sicilian cannoli (a crunchy fried wafer filled with sheep’s ricotta cream) and brioches. Or, to fight the summer heat, a refreshing crunchy granita can be a great choice.

When you order a gelato in Rome expect to be asked quite a few questions. As it is better to be prepared, let’s see what this is about.

Apart from the classic choice between cone or cup, don’t be surprised if the gelataio/a will also ask if you want melted chocolate (white chocolate or gianduja) at the bottom of the cone or whipped cream on top. It is one of the free, little, precious joys of eating ice cream in Italy.

Old school flavours such as stracciatella and crema alternate with other seasonal tastes depending on the availability of the product and the creativity of the staff.  We recommend trying brand-new flavours such as mint and liquorice, although the salted caramel with crunchy almonds is hard to pass up.

Fruit flavoured gelato is made using more than 50% seasonal fresh fruit delivered daily, while cream flavoured ones are made only with local organic milk and eggs. For its gelato, Cremilla only uses Sicilian carob flour as natural thickener in order to obtain a free of artificial additive flavour.

The gelato is mixed continuously in the kitchen lab so that it feels real, swift, and fresh at every bite. Most products are made on-site daily – there’s even a glass panel on the floor so that you can see the kitchen in action.

Unlike other gelaterie where the seating area can be quite limited, Cremilla, thanks to an inclusive interior design, invites visitors to take a seat and enjoy a moment of pure happiness.

Ruby Giulia Hotel: Rome’s retro rooftop for sunsets, spritz and music

A rooftop terrace with 1970s flair and spy story vibes

Outdoor aperitivo season has officially arrived, and Rome is certainly ready for it. Ruby Giulia Hotel now joins the list of panoramic rooftops not to miss this season and beyond.

Opened in November 2025, the German-designed hotel invites guests and visitors up to its seventh-floor panoramic terrace to watch the sunset over the rooftops of Rome’s historic center. All of this is wrapped in a very specific concept: the 1970s and the world of espionage.

The choice is far from random. The building that now houses the hotel and rooftop was once part of the Ministry of the Interior, specifically the intelligence services department. And there lies the “mystery” behind the design choices, especially those defining the sixth-floor bar.

Ruby_Giulia__Lobby_Bar

Here you’ll find a lively, convivial space with a distinctive, almost theatrical feel, complete with investigation maps, wigs and outfits worthy of true Roman Sherlock Holmes: the whole setting feels straight out of a film.

There is also a more discreet, intimate panoramic terrace, perfect for those looking for a quieter atmosphere without giving up views over the city.

The indoor bar is ideal for a coffee break, with coffee priced at €2, or for settling into one of the sofas with a book. In the late afternoon, from 4pm to 7pm, guests can also enjoy a special drinks and snacks formula.

Ruby_Giulia__Drinks

Retro spirit and Spritzes for every taste

The real highlight is the hotel’s seventh-floor rooftop terrace.

Where agents once scanned the horizon, guests can now raise a glass beneath elegant parasols on a terrace suspended above the Roman skyline. Stretching out over the surrounding buildings, it offers unobstructed views of the prestigious rooftops nearby, the Vittoriano and, further in the distance, the dome of St. Peter’s.

Velvet seating in ombré tones, geometric prints, chrome details and even lemon-yellow loungers and tomato-red chairs create an intimate, cinematic atmosphere.

The star of the show is, of course, the Spritz, reimagined here in a full palette of variations, from the classic Aperol and Campari to more refined creations. Alongside the timeless Hugo Spritz with elderflower, more contemporary and eye-catching combinations stand out, such as the Violet Spritz, elegant and lightly floral, or the Bergamot Rose Spritz, where citrus notes meet delicate rosy nuances. For those looking for something more exotic, the Colada Spritz brings tropical hints to the glass, while the Passion Fruit Spritz plays on intense, seductive contrasts. Fresher and more aromatic, the Cucumber Spritz with white vermouth and ginger beer is ideal for warmer evenings.

Everything is accompanied by an informal yet well-curated food offering, with bruschette, salads, sharing boards, pinsa and classic desserts for an experience that feels relaxed yet refined.

Events and music throughout the day

The bar also stands out for its multifaceted spirit: not just aperitivo, but a true entertainment hub hosting regular DJ sets, live events and cooking classes, turning every visit into a moment of fun. Its lively calendar makes Ruby a versatile space, perfect for both an informal evening and a special occasion.

And speaking of events, music here is not just a backdrop, but an integral part of the identity of Ruby properties. Guests can even rent one of the electric guitars available or tune in to Ruby Radio to connect with the rhythm of the city.

Wrapped in retro elegance, the penthouse bar is accessible 24 hours a day for hotel guests and from 6pm to 11pm for external visitors. One practical note to keep the evening running smoothly: the bar is cashless, so cash payments are not accepted.

At Ruby Giulia Hotel, breakfast also follows the rhythm of the city, turning a daily ritual into a convivial and well-curated experience. In the indoor dining room, among local and international influences, guests can enjoy baked goods such as Roscioli bread, fresh fruit, omelettes and pancakes. The buffet costs €22 and is available Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 10:30am, and from 7am to 11am on weekends and public holidays.

A strategic location

Ruby Giulia is located on the edge of the Monti district, a ten-minute walk from Termini Station and just steps from some of Rome’s most iconic landmarks. The Trevi Fountain and Roman Forum are only a fifteen-minute walk away, while the Colosseum and the Pantheon can be reached in twenty minutes.

From Ruby Hotel, it is easy to feel fully immersed in the city’s urban fabric without being overwhelmed by it. The ideal plan? Spend some time shopping on Via Nazionale or visit an exhibition at the nearby Palazzo delle Esposizioni, before ending the day with a Spritz and some good music.

Hiromi – elevated sushi on a rooftop

An elegant Japanese sushi lounge

The days when Rome’s culinary scene was limited to traditional pasta and pizza are long gone. Today, the capital offers a wealth of international experiences, and for those seeking refined Japanese cuisine in a stylish setting, Hiromi La Terrazza is an excellent destination.

Perched atop the 77 Hotel in the Monti neighbourhood, Hiromi La Terrazza is the latest adventure from the Hiromi group, which first arrived in Rome in 2018 with Hiromi Cake and expanded in 2023 with Hiromi La Maison. This newest opening sets itself apart through a distinctive gastronomic focus.

The gastronomic and sake offer

The menu focuses on sushi and raw Japanese specialities, with a selection that evolves daily. Guests can choose from carpaccio, gyoza, sashimi, tartare, nigiri, uramaki and temaki, with the wagyu roll emerging as a standout. The quality ingredients, meticulous presentation and stunning mise en place make every dish a feast for the eyes, bursting with beauty and colour. The wine list features around forty labels, with an emphasis on whites and sparkling wines. Meanwhile, the sake selection – curated by sake sommelier Roger Acosta – is thoughtfully organised into three categories: Umami, Aroma and Harmony.

A terrace overlooking the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore

The space offers about 70 seatings and it is divided into several distinct areas, making the choice of where to sit part of the experience: at the counter, overlooking both the kitchen and the nearby Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, or in the more intimate tatami area. The latter is a small, elegantly designed room, adorned with refined floral motifs – an ideal and authentic setting for afternoon tea (served in traditional attire) or for dinner, provided one is comfortable dining seated on the floor without shoes.

Hiromi – elevated sushi on a rooftop

Even in winter, the terrace maintains its charm: enclosed yet filled with light, it offers sweeping views over the city while maintaining a warm, cosy atmosphere thanks also to a very professional and knowledgeable service of the General Director Jacopo Giovannini and Floor Manager Fiammetta Oliviero.

Adèle mixology lounge, located on top of the luxurious hotel building, on Pincio hill, is just a few steps away from Villa Medici and Piazza di Spagna. The Cocktail menu

The mixology bar, managed by Giovanni Faedda, already known for his work at the Mirabelle restaurant, presents surprising combinations and international flair. The menu features bold and innovative combinations, from the fruity and smoky Gran Cabaret and Moulin Rouge (where peach and apricot notes mingle with smoky Ardbeg, balanced by lime and grapefruit) to the Japan-inspired Hanamy, a vodka-based cocktail accented with Luxardo maraschino cherries, Galliano, and Peychaud bitters.

Adèle is also a must-visit destination for lovers of outstanding mixology paired with a refined yet playful culinary experience. Executive Chef Stefano Marzetti proves a passionate and versatile partner, complementing the cocktails served on the terrace with a reimagined menu that embodies the Mirabelle restaurant’s commitment to seasonality and the excellence of Italian ingredients.

This approach offers a taste of the Splendide Royal’s haute cuisine, while presenting it in a more relaxed format – an effortless and informal way to indulge in authentic luxury.

The Adèle Full Experience

One of the lounge’s most popular choices is dedicated to mixology: the Adèle Full Experience, a masterclass that pairs three drinks with three dishes. Under the guidance of bartender Giovanni Faedda, guests can learn the art of mixology, and create their own cocktails.

“We wanted to create something unique for the capital,” says Panico. “Not the usual drink pairing designed to enhance the dishes, but an offering that puts the guest in the spotlight. The customer takes center stage and is trained, through a private masterclass, to become the Master Barman for the evening.”

New Food Experience: tasty gluten and lactose free restaurant in Rome

A delicious 100% gluten and lactose free menu in Prati

If you’re looking for a restaurant that can bring together friends and family with different dietary needs, New Food Experience in Prati is a great choice. Originally founded as a gluten- and lactose-free food laboratory, it has evolved into a full-fledged restaurant where guests don’t need to list allergies or restrictions: every dish is entirely gluten- and lactose-free, from antipasti to desserts, including frothy lactose-free coffees.

Nestled in the heart of the elegant Prati district, just a ten-minute stroll from the Vatican Museum, it offers a convenient location for both locals and travelers exploring Rome’s main attractions. The restaurant’s style is simple but cosy. A plus is the wait staff: knowledgeable and sensitive to diverse needs as you would expect from this kind of venue.

Inclusivity without giving up on taste is key

For those with celiac disease or lactose intolerance, the delight of savoring dishes like carbonara or fried antipasti, perhaps for the very first time, is truly remarkable. Chef Davide Belardinelli has crafted an inclusive yet flavourful menu designed to be enjoyed by all guests – and if you’ve never experienced gluten-free cuisine before, you’ll hardly notice the difference.

The taste and the texture of the products are so similar to the gluten pasta that it’s not uncommon for customers to double-check with the staff to ensure that their tonnarelli are genuinely gluten-free. Thus, literally everyone can safely indulge in the New Food Experience whose menu features locally sourced and seasonal ingredients mostly handpicked by the chef from the nearby Mercato Trionfale.

New Food Experience: tasty gluten and lactose free restaurant in Rome

Try the crispy roasted potatoes with homemade porchetta, or go for the tempura-style salted cod, Roman style. The first courses shine with homemade pasta, including the signature Fettuccina Experience with butter, parmigiano, raw beef, and lemon gel, as well as classic Roman staples like Carbonara, Cacio e Pepe, and Amatriciana.

The main courses then range from the melt-in-the-mouth bluefin tuna belly, figs, and Iberian ham to the charcoal-grilled flank steak, radicchio, and bitter orange. For dessert, you will find a ricotta & sour cherry tart as well as the more classic tiramisu and biscotteria with custard cream.

The wine list features a curated selection of local producers and a variety of natural wines.

The restaurant provides a safe haven for those who are not normally able to enjoy lunch or dinner out because of little attention to allergies requirements and also offers monthly New Food Experience events, featuring live music with guitar and vocal duets, alongside our ‘Incontri a Tavola’ collaborations with home chefs.

Rome welcomes a new photography center with three exhibitions

A Home for Photography at the Former Mattatoio

After undergoing a major renovation, the spaces of the Mattatoio are now open to the public with three exhibitions featuring artists of global appeal and interest: Irving Penn, Silvia Camporesi and Real bodies, imagined bodies, a project uniting three artists from Japan, Iran and France.

The Center of Photography is the first public institution in Rome completely dedicated to the visual arts and it is part of a wider project aiming at making the Mattatoio a brand new City of the Arts.

The opening ceremony on January 29th coincided with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the twinning between Rome and Paris and it was widely attended by local authorities and journalists eager to witness the transformation of the industrial site of the Mattatoio into an art center. «The Photography Center is the cornerstone of a major cultural and urban regeneration project, aimed at transforming Rome’s former slaughterhouse complex into one of Europe’s largest centers dedicated to contemporary arts and culture,» said Manuela Veronelli, president of the Fondazione Mattatoio.

Irving Penn. Photographs 1939-2007

The highlight exhibition features more than one hundred photographs by Irving Penn, coming from the Parisian Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP).

The American photographer of Jewish and Russian origins is widely recognized as one of the greatest photographers of the twentieth

century and this exhibition rightly celebrates his talent across different macro areas of his work. The photos are organized into six thematic sections: from the early works, travels across continents and communities, to the portraits of great artists and celebrities of his times, nudes, to the last sections with fashion and still life prints.

Each photo witnesses a different way of framing reality and the evolving photographic techniques, from gelatin silver to platinum printing until the arrival of pixel and inkjet print and colour prints. Regardless of the methods used, through his long career, Penn captured historical moments which remains iconic and timeless.

Silvia Camporesi. The Right Time and Place

The first floor of the gallery is dedicated to Silvia Camporesi, a philosophy-trained photographer born in 1973 who has dedicated much of her research to the Italian landscape.

The title of the exhibition is inspired by Peter Weir’s film Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975), a cult classic soaked in mystery and temporal suspension. Similarly, Camporesi’s works explores the concept of fracture encouraging a reflection on the tensions between reality and artifice, nature and culture, presence and absence, past and present.

Her photos span from La terza Venezia to Journey to Armenia, Atlas Italie, Almanacco Sentimentale, Mirabilia, and Omaggio al Mattatoio.

«Silvia Camporesi’s work perfectly represents that special and magical fusion between artistic expression and autobiographical need that photography manages to render in such a unique way,» commented curator Federica Muzzarelli.

Real bodies, imagined bodies. Identity, belonging, construction of meaning

Curated by Daria Scolamacchia, this contemporary group exhibition brings together artists from Japan, Iran, and France to examine pressing social issues including gender equality and the perception of the female body in the digital age.

Japanese artist Kensuke Koike, already familiar to the Roman public and the Mattatoio from a recent solo exhibition, presents women’s images slightly rearranged and edited such as Ikebana woman and Vertigo, to challenge the viewers’ perceptions. In Alix Marie’s work, Maman, an installation consisting of five large scale images of a mother’s breast, printed on silky fabric and arranged along a circular hollow metal structure, the experience evokes a sense of intimacy and separation.

Women are again the main focus in Nina Boukhrief’s stretched figures in Lycra and in the colorful photos by Forough Alaei. In her works, female Iranian fisherwomen, also called “daughters of the sea”, are portraited in their daily jobs in the open sea to highlight their courage, resilience and will to support their families.
