The initiative is part of the twelfth edition of the “Terreni Fertili Festival" and features multidisciplinary events that take place both on land and along the banks of the Po River.

It is not merely a lineup of performances, but an immersive experience that invites the public to move between places and forms of expression, rediscovering squares, riverbanks, ports, motorboats, museums, and villages as novel settings for artistic expression.

The historic centre will liven up every Wednesday with major events in Piazza Prampolini, the "Soul of the Square" series in Piazza Fontanesi, family-friendly activities, sport, wellness, guided tours organized by the IAT-R Reggio Emilia Welcome Office in collaboration with Itinere, cinema, theatre and initiatives in the San Pietro Cloisters.

A program built thanks to a broad network of collaborations, to enjoy the city's squares and streets together.

Yoga Radio Bruno Estate will also take place in Piazza della Vittoria June 24 at 9.00 p.m.

The move to Reggio Emilia will take place in the second stage, Padova-Montecatini Terme.

Between Piazza Martiri del 7 luglio and Piazza della Vittoria the Ferrari Tribute will carry out the Time Check for the lunch break (scheduled at the University) starting at 12.00, while the first historic car is expected for the Stamp Check at about 2.00 p.m.

The parade will then continue along Corso Cairoli, Via Mazzini, and Piazza Gioberti, taking Corso Garibaldi to Piazza Roversi. Every year Quattro Castella celebrates an important episode in the European history that took place at Bianello between May 6 and 11, 1111; Emperor Henry V, son of Henry IV who obtained in January 1077 the famous pardon of Canossa from Pope Gregory VII through the mediation of Countess Matilda, came to Bianello and appointed Countess Matilda as Vice-Queen of Italy.

Donizone, writer of that time, remarks that this was the first step toward the Agreements of Worms (1122); the ceremony took place on the church square near the area where the current event takes place.

The Matildic Historic Parade takes its name from the final parade of over 1,000 extras dressed in vintage dresses in the streets of Quattro Castella. The show consists of the theatrical re-enactment of the historical episode, with Matilda and Henry V usually interpreted by well-known figures of entertainment, culture and sport.

European Photography will celebrate its twenty-first edition with a long journey into the territories of the visible and the invisible.

They are the shadow of something that has lost its body, yet keep knocking at the night of the mind. They are a memory that refuses to become past, a fear dressed as mystery, a presence made of absence. They dwell in the corridors of silence, live in the cracks of memory, and feed on what was left unsaid. At times they make us tremble; at others they shield us into forgetting.

They have no face, only a thousand masks. You can drive them off with the light of an idea, or listen to them to learn what they hunger for. Yet ghosts are not only a menace, they are latent presences, suspended potentials, ideas that never quite departed.

Ghosts of the Moment is an invitation to seek out the unseen and the invisible, pay attention to the whispers of what has been and what could be, revealing the silent stories that inform and guide our present while simultaneously opening up new paths for the imagination.

This edition of European Photography also explores the quiet endurance of memory: how memories fade yet refuse to vanish entirely. Each photograph holds its own echo, a spectral reminder that even as time slips away, it keeps its essence suspended. Here the past is not gone, it breathes softly within the now.

The tour will take you to the heart of medieval Reggio Emilia, revealing its history, legends and hidden details amidst its squares, allies and centuries-old architecture. You will rediscover the city's profound identity, its transformations over the centuries and the living traces of a past rich in spirituality, power and daily life. The walk will conclude with a convivial and delicious moment, dedicated to the discovery of an ancient local speciality, combining rural wisdom and gastronomic tradition.

In addition to the painter's works, it is possible to admire some of Umberto Tirelli's costumes donated to the Municipality of Gualtieri.

The Castelnovo di Sotto Carnival, the most important in the province of Reggio Emilia, is characterized by traditional parades with carnival floats and masked bands. It derives from the culture and civilization of the agricultural world, and its typical mask is the "Castlein".

The creation of paper-pulp carnival floats is a true art form, on which the local artisans work all year.

January 7, 1797 the green, white and red flag was adopted as symbol for the Cispadane Republic, including the cities of Reggio Emilia, Ferrara, Modena and Bologna, whose representatives met in the Hall of the Municipal Council, from then called Tricolour Flag Hall.

Two days to celebrate the arrival of winter and the atmosphere of Advent through music, traditions and local flavours. The event enlivens the city to life with a rich and evocative program combining folk culture, ancient instruments, workshops and tastings.

The centerpiece of the event is "The Playing Goat", the first city festival dedicated to the bagpipe: instruments that have accompanied the life of Apennine communities for centuries. Musicians from various regions will perform in Piazza San Prospero and the city centre streets, along with dialect readings and itinerant musical performances.

Possibility to participate in craft and dialect workshops, discover local culinary delights with the Epulonie dedicated to panettone, spongata and sweet tortellino, and experience the city through guided tours and family activities. There will also be a moment of collective celebration with the Santa Claus Marathon, a non-competitive race open to all.

The route will arrive to the hillside of Quattro Castella.

The event is also important because of its links with the area of origin of both the Italian flag and typical gastronomic products known all over the world like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

Start of the procession from Piazza Fontanesi at 5.30 p.m, after the distribution of fairy lights. The inclusive marching band "Rulli Frullini" will accompany the procession. Finish in Piazza Prampolini at 6.00 p.m., where the lights will be turned off.

The exhibition offers viewers an overview of the Reggio Emilia artist's work, focusing on landscape painting, a genre rooted in the history of modern art and, in particular, in the "nineteenth-century green revolution," which was already the focus of an exhibition that took place at the Panizzi Library in 2024.
